Breeding working Border collies in a variety of colours and coat lengths - smooth, medium and rough, black/white, blue/white, blue merle, slate merle, chocolate merle, chocolate/white, lilac/white and the tri colour versions of these as well.
All pups are sold on not to be bred from contracts, except in some special circumstances.
Some of our pups aren't pedigree registered as their lineage is working bred, but everything is purebred working Border collie.
Our breeding dogs and bitches have had a DNA health test panel done, to ensure we aren't breeding pups who can be affected by common Border collie diseases. I also don't believe a dog or bitch should be bred from, without proving themselves in one way or another prior to producing a litter.
Cliffhanger pups are whelped and reared indoors in our custom built puppy house, for the first few weeks of their life, then they move to one of several custom built outdoor puppy areas during the day.
Once they are fully mobile and exploring their surroundings, they sleep in a big insulated kennel outdoors with their mum, and are brought indoors regularly. Sometimes they come indoors as a group, and sometimes they come in either individually or with a brother or sister, to ensure they don't become dependent on their littermates.
They are exposed to a lot of things in their first 8 weeks of life, including friendly adult dogs, cats, kids, livestock, quad bikes, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, vacuum cleaners, and a very busy highway.
They will also be put into small groups or individually into crates for short periods of time, to begin the crate training journey nice and early.
They come for walks and adventures on our lifestyle block and the 340 acre bush block we live next to, to learn about following people, and exploring new surroundings, surfaces, sights and sounds.
They are reared on a combination of high quality puppy kibble - soaked initially, and a raw mince mix, and of course wormed at regular 2 week intervals. Pups are sold vet checked and with their first vaccination, unless otherwise requested.
